Casey & Kendra { birth announcement

Casey and Kendra celebrated 10 years of love, 5 years of marriage, and their first baby with an intimate vow renewel cermony.  They wanted to surprise family and friends, and decided on a creative birth announcement while visiting Maui. We witnessed an extraordinary sunset, and played in the waves. Baby Makena (named after their favorite south side beach) is due in November – Scorpio baby… yes!   Kendra and Casey, your love is inspiring, and I am so excited for your family!  The island will be awaiting your return with Makena.

Meyranie Asaya { hooping in bangkok }

Asaya is a performer and world-traveler, and we have had the pleasure of crossing paths on the Big Island, Bali, and Thailand.  We did a photo shoot while we were both in Bangkok and explored the streets surrounding Ko Sahn Rd.  Asaya attracted crowds everywhere she went with her magnetic style of hooping.  Later, her and Vico (an incredible performer from France) spun fire near the King’s Palace – which I wasn’t sure we’d actually get away with!  Thankfully we pulled it off at least for a few burns… Their ninja style of partner fire spinning was incredible to witness. Thank you Asaya for ending my Asia photo shoots with a bang!  I cannot wait to see where your performance takes you this year….  xx

jaguar mary – Primary Creatrix at Sacred Circularities

From the moment I met Jaguar Mary, I felt a surge of inspiration… She was in Santa Cruz presenting a workshop in 2011, and mentioned Sacred Circularities in Bali.  I had never been to Asia before, and didn’t know much about Indonesia — but resonated with her warm energy and vision for a hoop dance retreat.  Soon, I was on a plane to photograph movement and immerse myself in a new culture.

I am blessed to be the photographer for two years at Sacred Circularities, and to have grown closer with Jaguar Mary.  Her dream has blossomed into a 3 week gathering with 45+ participants each week from all over the world.  I enjoyed Jaguar Mary’s transformational early morning classes, such as Meditation for Friends, High Vibe Morning Jam, Sound Healing– and of course the powerful circles she led at three temples.

Our photo session took place in the early morning, as we greeted the sun through ceremony and movement. I am very excited to share these images…..  Thank you Jaguar Mary for all that you are! Infinite Love.

sacred circularities – week 2 of 3

Sacred Circularities encompasses such a beautiful community… We all come together because of our love for the hoop (yes, that circle made of plastic!), but there is so much more.  Dream workshops, NIA, ecstatic dance, temple excursions, live music, yoga, meditation, sound healing & expression, Balinese ceremonies, writing, new friends, and exploring this land. Here are some highlights from Week 2 — full albums can be found on the SC fb page.
